At times we need to cover for illness in our main Housekeeping team and would like to find paid volunteers willing to help at short notice.

The best qualification you can have for this role is a love of cooking and experience of cooking for a family.

We would train you to obtain a food hygiene certificate and by initially working alongside existing Housekeepers you would learn the role and get to know the Residents. We would get you DBS checked and pay you for all time spent training or working at Abbeyfield.

If you would like to help Abbeyfield provide tasty food and a friendly caring environment for its 10 older Residents, we would love to hear from you.

Job Description

It doesn't feel like work when you enjoy what you do.

Our housekeepers cook a lunch and tea every day for up to 10 residents.

The best qualification you can have for doing this job is a love of cooking and experience of cooking for a family.

Our menus follow a 4 week rolling rotation. The main ingredients are given but housekeepers are free to prepare them how they wish, taking into account of course residents' preferences.

The main lunch option is set but an alternative option is offered to residents who dislike or are unable to eat the main option because of special diet or food allergy.

Potatoes or rice and 3 vegetables are served with the main meal. We have fish twice a week.

Puddings and desserts are always relished.

Sunday is usually a roast and we alternate between beef, lamb, pork, chicken and gammon.

Abbeyfield Ripon meals are not to be missed and are thoroughly enjoyed by all. Residents can see and taste the care that has gone into the preparation and housekeepers get a real sense of satisfaction in providing food that both nourishes and gives pleasure.
